Week9--Help your child with their Chinese Character writing

Dear Parents,
This year, we have two Chinese textbooks. (Textbook 1B and Textbook 2A.) There are 10 lessons in Textbook 1B, and  12 lessons in Textbook 2A. Each lesson contains about 8-10 Chinese Characters which students are supposed to be able to write.
During the past few weeks, we spent a lot of time correcting their writing homework cause most of the kids didn’t follow the stroke sequence when they are practicing writing the Characters. Remember, we only have at most 55 minutes of Chinese Literacy Class everyday. I don’t really want to spend too much time on this. I need your help! Kids needs your help!
In order to fix this problem, recently I’ve finished building one of my blog pages called ”Characters”. On this page, you could see Chinese Characters of each lesson. Click on each Character, you can be linked to the website of the Character’s sound and stroke order. Please have kids practice with this first, then write their homework worksheet that I give on Fridays.  If you couldn’t go online, you could at least make sure your child follow the stroke sequence by looking at stroke order printed on each worksheet. Believe me, if they “draw” characters in their own way, it’ll be much harder for them to remember.
I understand that you are busy, and kids are just starting to learn their English writing. Chinese Characters may not be easy for them to memorize. However, if we insist on practice one or two Characters per day, little by little, kids could eventually master in Chinese writing!
I’m expecting your help. And I appreciate it!

Week8--A Letter to Patents--online homework instructions

Dear Parents,
Please see below for some instruction of how to do our online Chinese homework on our Chinese Class Blog.
1.      Click on the “”Homework” tab, we have two online Chinese homework here.
2.     Click on the “Mrs.Chang’s  Light Classroom” link, practice Chinese at home with your child and have them record their voice every week. ( Students have done this kind of homework in their first grade, you should be familiar with it.)
3.     Click on the “新加坡小学华文 Textbook 1B”.
4.     Click on the first green button, you’ll see “一上“and “一下then click on the blue one,”一下
5.     There are ten orange buttons on this page. Those are lesson6~lesson15 of our Chinese textbook(1B). If you click on one of those buttons, you’ll see some buttons show up in the middle of the ellipse.
The first one,”课文”, is the main article of the lesson; The third one,”我爱阅读”, is the  minor article of the lesson; The second one,”听听唱唱”, is the song of the minor article. (Most of the lessons works well with these three functions.)
Using this website, your Child can hear how to pronounce all the words/sentences of each lesson at home! And you could chose whether to show the Pinyin or not while they are practicing reading.
Please make sure they go on to this website to practice their listening, reading, and speaking everyday. I’ll also give out the copies of each lesson’s articles. Please sign your name to show your kid has finished his/her reading practice everyday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at: jenny7002252002@yahoo.com.tw.  You are more then welcome to come to school, I’ll be glad to show you how to use it.
Thank you.
